For the Meringue:
Project DescriptionThe task for this project was to research and chose a dish from any Spanish speaking country. I chose to make a Chaja cake from Uruguay. While researching we translated the steps and ingredients needed to make our dish. As you can see in my example up above. After the research portion of the project we were assigned to write a poem about our dish in a style similar to Pablo Neruda's poetry. We spent a few weeks editing the poem and perfection it. Our last task was to cook our dish for the exhibition the next morning. When exhibition came around everyone created delicious meals for everyone to enjoy.
Project reflectionEven though this project was challenging it was also very hands on. It gave me a chance to put my work into action by cooking the meal I researched. The hardest part was not actually cooking my Chaja cake, but describing the food I had not had. I had to spend three hours on just the meringue. My favorite part of the project was cooking the cake. It was a blast eating and reading the food other people researched and created. From this project I learned how similar and different ingredients and dishes from various Spanish speaking countries are. At the end of the project I was very proud of how I preserved through perfecting my cake so they could turn out right. After spending hours laboring in the kitchen it was all worth it.

Project Overview In Spanish the project we were supposed to write a children book about a country of our choice in Spanish. My country was Argentina. The book was supposed to have colorful and big pictures. The text was supposed to be simple and easy to read with a simple story line. After the books were made, we when to Needham Elementary School.
Overall I liked the project, it help me learn how to apply all we have learned this year. My favorite part was the drawing portion of this project. (examples are to the right) Though drawing was my favorite part of the project, I would definitely like to refine and/or change my drawings. The animal that is the main character is kinda obscure (at least to me) and it was really had to portray that animal on paper.
Project DecriptionThe purpose of this project was to write and illustrate a book in Spanish for elementary school aged kids. We had three weeks to complete the project. The book was to take place in a Spanish speaking country that we did prior research on. My story took place in Argentina. When it was time to share our books we had a very fun exhibition. We read our books to the First Graders at Needham Elementary school who seemed very interested in learning more about Argentina.
Project ReflectionThis project was one of my favorite projects of the year because it gave me a chance to be artistic while improving my Spanish skills including pronunciation reading, and writing. I found that the best way to improve my pronunciation was to simply practice reading my book over and over. My favorite part of this project was the exhibition as I loved reading my book to second graders. They all seemed very interested in the subject of my book and in learning about Argentina. If i had to change anything about this project I would give students more time in class to complete their drawings . Throughout this project I believe that I increased my Spanish vocabulary significantly and I also greatly improved my pronunciation of common Spanish words.
